Amber and I have been friends for a very long time and when she introduced me to the love of her life, Curt- I knew he was the one.  When they told me the news that they were expecting I was ecstatic + beyond excited for them!  We all thought this journey would be an amazing story to photograph and so begins Penny’s birth story.  Amber called me one day and told me they were going to the doctor’s to hear the baby’s heartbeat.  I met them at the doctor’s office and when I saw Amber see the baby on the monitor for the first time, my heart melted.  I was so happy for my friends and could not wait to see this baby in person.

A few months later it was time to find out if this baby was going to be a Penelope (a name they both loved) or Jack (after both of their grandfathers).  We met in the doctor’s office and anxiously waited.  IT’S A GIRL!  :)  Amber and Curt barely made it outside before spreading the news.

Now we all had to patiently wait till we would see Penny again.  Patiently.

Penny was being a little stubborn and wasn’t going to come anytime soon.  Amber + Curt went ahead and scheduled a C-Section for Monday, November 19th but as life has it’s own plans, Penelope decided she would come earlier. ;)  Friday evening around 6 PM I got a phone call from Amber saying that her water broke and that they were on their way to the hospital.  I had my camera ready and headed over to meet them.

Penny was taking her sweet time so Mommy + Daddy got some rest.

The nurse came in and said it was time!

Everyone was so excited and anxious to see Penny. :)

After 11 hours of labor, Amber + Curt welcomed beautiful Penelope Rose into the world on November 17th at 3:52 a.m. with family and friends by their side.  She weighed 9 lbs 5 oz and was 22 inches long.    Having been given this honor to photograph a baby’s birth and first breath in this world is not only humbling but an incredible experience that I will cherish forever.  I am so thankful you invited me along this amazing journey.  I love you all so much! xoxo Kristie
