Jillian + Jeff ‘s story is something you might find if you picked up a fantasy book off of the shelf of your local library.  They grew up together in the same neighborhood and were high school sweethearts.  It was then that they knew they wanted to be together for a long time and had the complete support of their family and friends.  Through college, jobs, traveling and house buying, Jillian and Jeff have been each other’s best friend and they recently added Hurley, their lovable golden doodle, to the family.  When discussing where they would be married, no other place seemed better than where it all started.  They decided to tie the knot on the banks of the Wicomico River in the same neighborhood where they lived and met.

On wedding day, I drove up to the house to meet with Jillian and the girls.  I had met her sisters a week before when I shot baby Emily’s session and was so excited to see everyone again.  Cheryl Haight was finishing up Jillian’s hair and the girls were applying finishing touches.  Payton, Jillian’s niece, helped with the festivities. :)  Jillian wore her mother’s gorgeous cathedral veil for her “something borrowed” and had a beautiful ring that was also from Mom as her “something blue”.  I ventured over to Jeff’s house up the street and Amber Hughes was primping everyone in the Dolan house.  Jeff and his brother Tom were getting ready and we made our way outside to have some fun with Hurley.  Both houses were bustling with excitement for Jillian and Jeff’s big day.

I loved that they decided to do a private “first look” down by the water before the ceremony.  It was beautiful to see these two just soak in the past that they have built, the present moment and future that will come.  Hurley came down for some shots and then they all tucked away for the ceremony.  Jim Grey from The City Florist had a big part in Jillian + Jeff’s wedding.  He and her sister Mallory not only created all of the floral arrangements and decorations, but Jim also ministered their wedding.  Guests entered the ceremony space to the beautiful guitar sounds played by Jillian’s brother, Joe.  Jillian and Jeff stood under the tall pines and on their strong roots over looking the river as they exchanged their vows.  The sun peered through as close family and friends witnessed this very special moment.  One of Jeff’s nicknames is “tree” and I thought it was very fitting that he had a wooden wedding ring. :)  After they said “I Do!” it was time to celebrate!

The acoustic sounds of Neer Hershtig, a close friend of the bride and groom, echoed over the lawn and everyone met and mingled.  Creative Catering was prepping the delicious food while guests played corn hole and indulged in libations.  Cake Art provided the lovely wedding cake that even had a “bark” layer!  Harry Suber kept the dance floor moving and throughout the whole night I would catch Jeff and Jillian looking at each other from across the room and they just smiled and laughed.  It was very apparent that their wedding was a beautiful weaving of their close friends and family and I am so grateful I was able to be apart of this big day.  Jillian + Jeff- I am really happy for you both and truly admire the love and friendship you both share.
