after photographing this session, kathleen and ray officially became my most photographed couple ~ ever. it’s hard to believe that we met 7 years ago when they hired me to photograph their wedding.. and from the very first moment, I loved them. they are funny, they are kind, they are silly, they are amazing parents, they are more in love today than they were last year, and the year before that. they are ravens fans.. but I can overlook that ~ I love them that much. so instead of posting a bunch of links to their previous sessions, I pulled some of my favorite photos from all of our sessions..

and last month’s session.. this year, they picked me up from assateague on their pontoon boat. I must say, I felt pretty fancy :) we went to a beach only accessible by boat and had such an awesome morning together. now that alice is a year older, she is on the move, inquisitive, and adorable. coleston, as usual, was so much fun and ever the attentive big brother. to watch all of them together is a such a joy and I am reminded once again how fortunate I am that I get to do this for a living. the friendships that I have made, the children that I watch grow up in front of my lens… I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love you guys so much and am forever grateful to have you in my life.. until next year! xoxo

1I love seeing a family grow in front of my lens. every session brings new experiences as children grow and parents fall even deeper in love with each other and their family. this is the fifth time that I photographed my friends, lindsey and alex, and the second time that I’ve worked with them as a family of four. but as I met them at the beach in ocean city on a beautiful summer evening, lindsey could hold on to the happy news one more second. they are expected child number three! wyatt and kyle are going to be such awesome big brothers and I can’t wait until our next session to meet the latest addition to your lovely family. I so enjoy our time together every session and am grateful for clients and friends like you. congratulations!

1if you have been a follower of the blog for the last decade, then you have definitely seen stephanie and jeff. since their wedding in 2005, they have become 2 of my dearest friends ~ I have had the honor of documenting their maternity sessions when they were expecting their daughter, hannah, and then son, finn. newborn sessions, family sessions, even an impromptu mini dog session here and there with their pup, moses have followed since. we try to get together at least once a year for family photos, and when schedules allow, for some friend time as well. but this session was a little different. this is the first time in over 10 years that I have had the pleasure to see the whole tobash family together and I couldn’t wait to catch up. the family traveled to rehoboth to celebrate steph’s sister, teri’s birthday. since 2005, there have been a lot of changes and additions for this lovely crew and it was wonderful to meet them all. I always have so much fun with you and it was like just hanging out with family ~ I am so grateful for friends like you. I love you guys and had such a beautiful evening with all of you! xoxo

1ashlee is the daughter of one of my dear friends, diane. although ashlee and I had only met once, at the wedding of her cousins, julie + tyler, she’s that kind of person that you feel like you’ve known forever. ashlee is an acupuncture therapist who currently lives in arizona, but recently she contacted me to let me know that she had a trip planned back east to see her family and inquired about us getting together for a session and I was SO excited to work with her! unfortunately, her husband wasn’t able to make the trip, but her daughter, meela, was with her…. let me tell you a little something about meela… this girl has sass! she is so much fun and a spark of light that I loved spending the afternoon with. I am so very happy for all of you as you welcome this new member into your beautiful family. I hope that we have the opportunity to see each other again soon!  xoxoxo

1this summer has been so special.. so many of my dearest friends have welcomed new additions into their families and when I was told of the arrival of baby indigo, I couldn’t have been happier. amanda and I have known each other for a long time. a relationship that began as co-workers has evolved into a friendship that I am so grateful for. a few years ago, when I learned that she was pregnant with her son orion, she was living in indiana at the time. fortunately, she came home to visit and we had time to photograph a maternity session. shortly after that, she and her family moved back to the eastern shore and I was so happy to have her back home. last fall, she modeled for me for an editorial shoot and it was then that she shared her happy news… ‘we have to get another maternity session on the books.’ she said with a smile. I put my camera down and hugged her tight, so excited for my friend. and what a session we had! it was early this summer.. and it was beautiful. we had grand plans for me to be there for the birth of her daughter, indigo, but babies enter this world on their time and unfortunately it didn’t work out. so on to plan b! I went to their home and had such a lovely afternoon with all of them. orion was clearly tickled with his new role as big brother… he doted on, tickled, and kissed his baby sister throughout the session. amanda and chris were as they always are.. happy, peaceful, and madly in love with each other, their family, and their life together. amanda, I am so very happy for all of you and am so grateful to have you as a cherished member of my tribe. love you!

1two years ago, I photographed their destination wedding in charleston ~ last year, I photographed their local reception for family and friends ~ 2 months ago, I photographed their maternity session ~ and then last week, I had the immense pleasure of photographing their first session as new parents. during a relatively short window of time, I have come to learn so much about adrianne and jimmy and they have become such dear friends to me. to be with them during such big life moments has been something that I cherish and am so grateful for. after their maternity session, they had decided that they wanted to do a birth story.. so as adrianne started to go into labor, I received a text 9:19pm as she and jimmy headed to the hospital. knowing that each birth is different, I told them that I would check in the next morning and come to the hospital once steven’s arrival was imminent. we texted back and forth the next day but it was eventually decided by adrianne’s doctor that steven was going to be delivered by c-section. the next day, they invited me up to the hospital to meet the little guy :) due to some precautionary measures, he was in the special care nursery so I went down with his grandmother, mama charlene, for my visit and fell in love at first sight. he is so darling! after several days, they were given the green light to go home and shortly thereafter,  I went to the house to spend the morning with everyone ~ including fur babies, maggie and maya, of course! I am SO very happy for my friends ~ they already have this parenthood thing down! steven is such a happy boy and when he is in his parent’s arms, all is perfect in his world. who knows what our next session may bring? much love! xoxo

1I’ve known my dear friend, amanda, for quite a few years now. initially we met when we worked together at my restaurant and while we were co-workers and friends, we didn’t really know each other that well. in the 6 years since, however, through many changes in both of our lives, I have come to love her and appreciate all of the many things that I have learned about her and from her. I watched her as she became a mother to her son orion and have marveled in how she seems to navigate everything with such ease and grace. so when she told me that she and chris were expecting their second child, I was so happy. unlike our chilly session when amanda was expecting orion, for indigo’s session, we had a beautiful day and headed to assateague. orion is such a happy little boy and is clearly excited to meet his little sister and documenting their family during our time together was such a joy. I am so very happy for all of you and am counting the days until I have the pleasure of meeting your daughter. I love you! xoxo

1it seems like only yesterday that I photographed claire’s newborn session, so when I walked into the home of my friends, allison and bryan, I was so amazed by just how big she has gotten. for this photo session, she had a different role than the last time… big sister to baby leah! and she was so excited. we started the session in leah’s nursery ~ she is such a calm and happy baby and was looking at me straight in the eyes from the time the first shutter was snapped. claire looked on and then joined her little sister before we got mom and dad involved too. they are such an adorable family and I am so happy to have been able to document their family’s story  since it began on their wedding day. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

1I normally begin these kind of posts by saying something like  ‘if you’re familiar to the blog, you will know this family…’ but by now, it basically goes unsaid with the hoos family. I counted, and since their engagement session, kate and mark have been featured more than any other couple on this blog. a fact that makes my heart smile! most recently, they asked me to come to their home to photograph their family now that their son, jack, has arrived. I was greeted, as usual, by their big, beautiful, brown boy brant ~ lord how I adore this dog and some snuggles with him made my day. then their son trey popped into the room and proudly introduced me to his baby brother, whom he is clearly crazy about. I had such a wonderful morning with all of them and in the middle of the session, I just had this almost overwhelming sense of gratitude. it’s enough that I get to do what I love for a living.. more than enough. but the people I have met along the way have become like family to me and when their tribe grows.. so does mine. I love all of you and can’t wait to see what the future brings! xoxo

February 23, 2016

there are some clients who have become such regulars on the blog, that our readers feel like they know them ~ and kate and mark are definitely at the top of that list. from their engagement session and wedding to santa paws, and then maternity and newborn sessions once their son trey arrived, with family sessions along the way, I have had the honor of documenting every new chapter in kate and mark’s life together since the day I met them. so when I learned that they were expecting their second child, I knew it wouldn’t be long until we would be picking locations for our next shoot. as they pulled up in the lot, mark hopped out and asked ‘so, have you missed me?’ and my answer was a wholehearted yes! because kate and mark aren’t just my clients, they have become dear friends and I feel so lucky to have the job I do. to see trey getting so big as he grabs branches and turns them into fishing poles, knowing that he’s going to be even more grown up as a big brother. to see the same love between kate and mark that I witnessed on wedding day.. only now it’s a little different, because as parents it’s grown even more. and I am so grateful for all of it. I can’t wait to meet their child once he arrives and wrap up their big chocolate lab, brant, in a bear hug. I love you guys and am so very happy for you! xoxo
