this is the last ‘best of’ 2014 blogpost… we have had such an amazing time looking back at all of our sessions, weddings, and adventures from the last year. throughout the year, we have posted instagrams to document the journey that was 2014 and thought that sharing them would be the perfect way to wrap up this series.

  • we photographed 42 weddings
  • 17 of our couples welcomed new additions to their families
  • we traveled to 17 states
  • we did many happy dances
  • we took a trip of a lifetime to paris
  • we photographed 84 sessions
  • we worked with dozens of adorable pups
  • we danced under rainbows
  • we photographed 5 festivals
  • we consumed approximately 3,549,325 cups of coffee
  • we moved the studio
  • we saw so much live music which made our souls sing
  • we made so many new friends and reconnected with cherished loves
  • we collaborated with some of the most creative people that we’ve had the pleasure of working with
  • we took the time to watch the sunset, gaze at the moon, and walk on the beach
  • we celebrated the holidays.. happily

there have been many changes for all of us here at the studio in 2014. we are looking so forward to implementing all of our new plans… new collaborations, new studio, new team members. 2015 promises to be such a beautiful, transforming, and memorable year. we are so excited to work with all of our new clients and follow this path that is sure to take us to some amazing places. we thank all of you for such love, friendship, and inspiration – you made 2014 truly remarkable and a year that we will never, ever forget xoxo

one of the coolest parts of 2014 was the music! we were asked to photograph several festivals which had us traveling all over the country. beginning in austin for sxsw, we went to new orleans for jazz fest, NYC for the gov ball, the hills of tennessee for bonnaroo, and downtown chicago for lollapalooza. as music lovers, these opportunities were such amazing experiences as each festival uniquely reflected both the music and culture of their respective locations. we met up with old friends and worked with some fabulously creative people. we danced in the rain and ate ourselves silly on local fare. we took a moment to step back and soak it all in and can’t wait to see what 2015 brings!

we have hit the ground running as our 2014 season has kicked off.. between being out of town and on-location, we haven’t been in the studio much so we are combining our may and june instagram posts. SO much cool stuff has been happening ~ to see more, follow all of us on instagram: @rayevalion @kcooper3 @laurannord @jillyeb @doc113 :)

  • we have photographed 12 weddings
  • 4 of our couples have welcomed little ones
  • one of us is becoming an aunt
  • we have traveled to upstate new york, nashville, virginia, pennsylvania and NYC
  • one of us bought a new house
  • one of attended her favorite girl’s college graduation
  • we photographed TWO music festivals (governors ball and bonnaroo)
  • we traveled by ferry, bus, plane, canoe and ferris wheel
  • we saw what seemed like hundreds of bands.. and very well might have been
  • we had our annual studio photo shoot
  • one of us celebrated a birthday
  • we camped, shared bonfires, canoed and swam
  • one of us got married.. okay not really. but the wedding dress was put back on for a session. that counts, right?
  • we were all once again reminded just how very lucky we are to do what we love to do – and so grateful for all of the people who are with us on this amazing ride :)

festival season is definitely in full swing and we are loving it! just one week after the governors ball, we headed to tennessee to one of the biggest parties of the year ~ bonnaroo! the weather couldn’t have been more ideal (complete with one of the most vibrant rainbows we’ve ever seen!) and the music was varied and awesome :) a totally different vibe than gov ball, bonnaroo has developed a reputation for being eclectic with something for everyone. the musicians, the comedians, the films.. and most of all the festival folks all mingled¬†together to create such a magical environment that we hated leaving. next up is lollapalooza in chicago and we can not wait!¬†2 3 4 5 6 8 8a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 16a 17 18

1 if we’re honest, when we were first asked to photograph the governors ball in NYC our first reaction was ‘huh?’. because we are hired to primarily to shoot music festivals for this company, we were a little baffled about documenting a fancy dancy ball… but sure! yes! definitely! several minutes later a quick google search proved us ridiculously wrong… the governors ball is indeed a music festival and it’s one of the most original and fun-filled events we’ve ever had the pleasure of attending. located on randalls island, the gov ball is most easily reached by water taxi and once you get through the gates, your every sense is bombarded in the most fabulous ways! there are art installations everywhere, meandering showgirls on stilts, a roving mariachi band…. all that and much more before you even get to the music stages and tents. we photographed some of our favorites that we had been waiting to see like interpol,¬†the head + the heart and foster the people – we also saw and heard new artists that we have come to love like tv on the radio. when we weren’t on the island, we enjoyed our time in the city and had 4 of the most wonderful and memorable days of this year – we can’t wait until 2015! 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46
