this is the last ‘best of’ 2014 blogpost… we have had such an amazing time looking back at all of our sessions, weddings, and adventures from the last year. throughout the year, we have posted instagrams to document the journey that was 2014 and thought that sharing them would be the perfect way to wrap up this series.

  • we photographed 42 weddings
  • 17 of our couples welcomed new additions to their families
  • we traveled to 17 states
  • we did many happy dances
  • we took a trip of a lifetime to paris
  • we photographed 84 sessions
  • we worked with dozens of adorable pups
  • we danced under rainbows
  • we photographed 5 festivals
  • we consumed approximately 3,549,325 cups of coffee
  • we moved the studio
  • we saw so much live music which made our souls sing
  • we made so many new friends and reconnected with cherished loves
  • we collaborated with some of the most creative people that we’ve had the pleasure of working with
  • we took the time to watch the sunset, gaze at the moon, and walk on the beach
  • we celebrated the holidays.. happily

there have been many changes for all of us here at the studio in 2014. we are looking so forward to implementing all of our new plans… new collaborations, new studio, new team members. 2015 promises to be such a beautiful, transforming, and memorable year. we are so excited to work with all of our new clients and follow this path that is sure to take us to some amazing places. we thank all of you for such love, friendship, and inspiration – you made 2014 truly remarkable and a year that we will never, ever forget xoxo

we have hit the ground running as our 2014 season has kicked off.. between being out of town and on-location, we haven’t been in the studio much so we are combining our may and june instagram posts. SO much cool stuff has been happening ~ to see more, follow all of us on instagram: @rayevalion @kcooper3 @laurannord @jillyeb @doc113 :)

  • we have photographed 12 weddings
  • 4 of our couples have welcomed little ones
  • one of us is becoming an aunt
  • we have traveled to upstate new york, nashville, virginia, pennsylvania and NYC
  • one of us bought a new house
  • one of attended her favorite girl’s college graduation
  • we photographed TWO music festivals (governors ball and bonnaroo)
  • we traveled by ferry, bus, plane, canoe and ferris wheel
  • we saw what seemed like hundreds of bands.. and very well might have been
  • we had our annual studio photo shoot
  • one of us celebrated a birthday
  • we camped, shared bonfires, canoed and swam
  • one of us got married.. okay not really. but the wedding dress was put back on for a session. that counts, right?
  • we were all once again reminded just how very lucky we are to do what we love to do – and so grateful for all of the people who are with us on this amazing ride :)

  • we traveled to baltimore, dc, richmond and philly
  • we amped up our starbucks consumption
  • we took advantage of our last little window of downtime before the season to share with family and friends
  • we hot yoga-ed, boxed and ran 10Ks
  • 5 of our couples welcomed new additions to their families
  • we took the time to appreciate the simple things like a beautiful sunset
  • we spoiled our four-legged family.. as usual
  • we played with bees and dreamt of honey
  • we took flight with a very cool aerial yoga event
  • we welcomed 70 plein air painters to our little town
  • we hot tubbed whenever possible
  • we made and partook of far too many cupcakes – we even entered a baking competition! :)
  • we kicked off our wedding season with a stunning day in saint mikes at the inn at perry cabin
  • we traveled to new orleans for a music (and food and friendship) trip of a lifetime
  • we prepped and got all of our ducks in a row for our biggest season yet!

  • in september we decided that a trip was in order. our choice? paris
  • we consulted friends, clients and travel blogs and got to planning
  • we arrived at our apartment in the third arrondissement and set out for the essentials… french coffee
  • we spent late nights journaling while listening to music and the city sounds 4 stories below
  • we butchered some language and was corrected by snarky cab drivers
  • we lived on our balcony
  • we tossed out some of our previous plans to just wander the streets and soak everything in
  • we stumbled upon paris fashion week
  • we met a waiter named vincent who became our new best friend
  • we sampled every kind of pastry, bread and crepe we could find. literally.. everything – diets be damned!
  • we drank more coffee
  • our friend nancy flew in from germany to join us
  • we visited museums and saw works both big and small that we had only studied and loved from afar
  • we became surprisingly comfortable speaking the language as the days passed
  • we fell in love with the eiffel tower.. she is so magnificent in person
  • we spent rainy days in our apartment relaxing, talking and shooting
  • we walked countless flights of stairs – they are everywhere – usually spiral, always steep and seemingly endless
  • we got a lesson in proper absinthe etiquette
  • we missed our flight home.. not on purpose. really
  • we arrived home knowing that we had experienced something truly special and life changing. what we saw, the things we learned about our craft, ourselves, our creative passions, our friendship, the conversations we had, the lightbulb moments that came out of thin air, the beauty that was felt by all senses, the inspiration that will translate into our work and the reality that we were able to do all of this together is something that we will always have. always. paris moved us both in such beautiful and unexpected ways and we will be forever grateful

  • we photographed 92 portrait sessions
  • we worked with over 100 dogs
  • we traveled to 16 states
  • we added 3 new members to the team
  • we consumed approximately 2,894,454 cups of coffee
  • one of us is pregnant
  • 12 of our couples welcomed little ones
  • we danced the night away with a group of former brides, now cherished friends
  • we recovered, renewed and rediscovered our studio after hurricane sandy
  • we photographed 2 major music festivals
  • we did many happy dances
  • we had a spiritual moment with flavor flav
  • we ran through rainbows
  • we found peace in the mountains and the desert
  • we hung out with the nfl
  • we made plans for a trip of a lifetime
  • we reconnected with dear friends and made many new ones

looking back at this year leaves us feeling so very grateful. without all of you, there would be no ‘us’ and you have made this a truly epic year. tomorrow will begin our ‘best of 2013′ posts and y’all made it SO hard to choose!!! we love and appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to a hopeful, healthy and happy 2014 filled with love, laughter and plenty of road trips! xoxo

  • we wrapped up our wedding season with some beautiful events in annapolis, baltimore, DC and here on the shore
  • we welcomed the colors of fall
  • we danced the night away at several concerts with former brides who have become close and treasured friends
  • we photographed 5 new additions to our ever growing GPA family
  • we welcomed a new puppy
  • one of our family members got engaged (congratulations em!!)
  • we had our first ever baltimore santa paws event hosted by the downtown dog resort
  • we were once again reminded of all of the many reasons we have to be grateful

  • we traveled to las vegas with some of our favorite ladies
  • we triumphantly won… and then embarrassingly lost on sex in the city slot machines (who knew they made a high roller version??)
  • we were treated to a lot of eye candy thanks to sin city’s notorious past, told through neon
  • we had a much needed day of peace, serenity and zen in the middle of the desert
  • we got some of the most exciting studio news… ever (cue our ‘happy’ dance)
  • we photographed weddings in rehoboth, OC, saint mikes, columbia, dewey beach and 2 in DC
  • we worked with some of our favorite families and friends
  • we had several rock star sightings
  • we traveled to NYC for the third time this year… something we could get very used to!
  • we spent some quality time with martha stewart
  • we spent our annual fall day in the lovely vessey orchard
  • we celebrated a year since hurricane sandy with the studio of our dreams
  • kris got married… sort of
  • we each spent halloween in our own special way

  • one of us went back to school
  • we traveled to the beautiful jersey shore to photograph the wedding of one of our favorite families
  • we crossed the bridge at least 100 times (or else it felt like it)
  • we took advantage of this gorgeous weather and worked on our local beaches… a lot
  • we worked with some of our absolute favorite wedding pros
  • ponies, ponies.. everywhere
  • the studio is almost finally back to her original glory after the hurricane sandy flood
  • one of us ran through showers of color
  • football started… and it isn’t going well.. at least for one of us

  • we traveled to kansas, missouri, colorado, chicago, hawaii and jamaica
  • we photographed the wedding of a dear friend
  • we celebrated a basic training graduation
  • we hung out with a lot of cool pups
  • we danced in the mountains
  • we had long overdue visits with family and old friends
  • one of us is pregnant
  • we kicked around the idea of a second location
  • one of our couples welcomed a little one
  • we logged a ton of hours and drank a lot of caffeine to go into september with a clean slate
  • we are looking so forward to our biggest fall season ever :)

  • we road tripped to nyc and boston
  • we photographed the weddings of 3 dear friends
  • we continued to work on the studio
  • we shot weddings and sessions in boston, annapolis, grasonville, baltimore, new jersey, assteague and dc
  • we drank coffee… lots of it
  • 2 of our couples welcomed little ones
  • we continued to count our blessings as we are in the midst of our best and busiest season yet!
