I always love when our couples are expecting their first child- there is a sense of nervousness, excitement and just pure joy!  I especially love when I am able to photograph the maternity session because I get to see them after wedding day AND am able to be a part of the next chapter in their lives together. I had the pleasure of photographing Melba + Jordy’s engagement session last year where I met their “first” two children- Murphy + Kinsey. Then I got to spend the whole day with them for their amazing riverboat wedding in October.  We missed out on seeing each other during the Firefly Music Festival in the summer but when we all got together last week it was like no time had passed.  I couldn’t wait to shoot because we had rare, gorgeous fall weather for being the middle of November and the leaves were still so vibrant!  Melba even brought a painting she made for baby Jo.  I’m so happy for you both and for your families!  I can’t wait to meet Miss Joanna Marie!

If you read the blog you’ll notice that most of our weddings are “across the bridge” and while we love the diversity of all the different venues over there, we’re learning that we have more and more amazing locations in our own backyard.  When I first met with Melba and she shared that she and Jordy were getting married on a riverboat- well that was a first and I couldn’t wait!  The first time I met Jordy (and their adorable pups Murph + Kinsey) was at their e-session.  We all hit it off as we spent the day in several different spots around the shore.  When wedding day finally rolled around, I knew that they had some awesome surprises in store.  The first, at least for me, was what Jordy and his guys were wearing- complete with fedoras, they set the tone for the riverboat theme. :)  Melba too, wore a beautiful vintage gown and her grandmother’s broach in her hair.  As they got ready for first look the whole family gathered outside to watch.  Normally a moment between only the bride and groom, having everyone there seemed perfect for this intimate wedding.  The  special touches that they had planned continued at their ceremony on the banks of the Choptank River as bagpipes preceded Melba’s walk down the aisle.  As she held her bouquet of flowers designed by her grandmother, Melba + Jordy exchanged their handwritten vows and celebrated their love in front of their closest family and friends.

Melba + Jordy, I’ve had such a wonderful time working with you and getting to know you and your family.  Thank you for a truly original and special day and for helping me discover a new treasure on the Eastern Shore! :)  xoxo Kristie

When Melba + Jordan mentioned they were “laid back and crunchy” in their questionnaire I knew their session was going to be original and fun!  They both love outdoor activities and their boxer babies, Kinsey + Murphy.  We decided to capture both during their e-session.  I met them at their new home nestled in the woods to grab some family photos with their awesome pups.  We reenacted Jordan’s proposal – check out the beautiful antique ring!  Afterwards we headed down to Snow Hill for an evening on the water- literally!  They both like white water rafting but the closest to Level V rapids I could find on the flat Eastern Shore was the Pocomoke River. :) Our studio is located right next to Pocomoke Canoe Company and Barry was so kind to let us use one of his canoes for the shoot.  I had so much fun that night and am so excited for their wedding day, part of which is going to be on a River Boat- how cool is that?!

I had such a fun time with you guys- can’t wait for October!! :)
