1the first time that I met sarah and andrew was on their wedding day. initially, we had planned on doing an engagement session together, but with their careers, they travel.. a lot. at the time, we decided that we might do a fun, post-wedding shoot to make up for our missed session, but not too long after wedding day, I got the most wonderful news ~ they were expecting. it was going to be time for a newborn session and I was so excited. by the time that kristie and I left their wedding, sarah and andrew already felt like old friends.. they had been so awesome to work with and as I drove to their home a few weeks ago, I was really looking forward to seeing them again. I was greeted at the door by their pup, gus, who is such an adorable little guy. and then I met their son, liam. for a newborn, he was SO alert with eyes wide open and following our every move. we went upstairs and spent the next hour or so catching up and photographing this beautiful baby boy (and gus.. obviously). I had such a lovely morning with you and hope to see you again before life takes you across the globe xoxo

1ironically, according to facebook memories, the first time I met lea was three years ago today. she is the cousin of our associate photographer, laura, and had joined us to help out with our baltimore santa paws event. little did I know, that three years later, kristie and I would be photographing her beautiful wedding to jonathan. they met at washington college and this is where I photographed their engagement session a few months ago. they are such a wonderful couple who can’t help but smile when they look at each other and were laughing together the whole way through our session. as kris and I arrived at the hotel monaco, laura met us down in the foyer as family and friends also started to arrive. in the bridal suite, the music was playing, hair and makeup was in full effect, and all of lea’s ladies were helping her get ready for this magic day. meanwhile, kris was with jonathan and escorted him to the first look location. ‘he’s SO excited!’ she texted me, ‘it’s adorable..’. as lea descended the marble staircase to greet her love, both of them were overcome with emotion and love. it was so lovely to capture. and as we were joined by the bridal party, the excitement of the day was on full display. lea and jonathan love the beatles. love them. love. so much so, that everything from the decor, to the music selections, and even adorned on the tie clips, were fab four touches. as lea came down the aisle accompanied by a favorite song, friends and family stood.. and even sang along a little. lea and jonathan, we were so happy and honored to be a part of this beautiful day! the love that you two share is so lovely and an inspiration ~ we wish you so much happiness, joy, and love in your life together… xoxo

001I love it when clients introduce me to a new location here on the shore ~ it’s a pretty rare occurrence. after photographing sessions from lewes to cape charles, I assume that I know all of the spots.. even the ‘secret’ ones. but for adriane and nick’s maternity session, I met them at park that they suggested which is tucked back in the woods of west OC and it was so lovely. the leaves were still on fire in their brilliance and the late afternoon sun glowed as we walked the paths with their pup, frank, tagging along. adriane and nick have recently moved to the area after having lived in hawaii and are due any day now with their first child. I am looking so forward to our next session when you will be a family of 4 and I will have the honor of meeting your daughter. I had such a wonderful evening with you… and I will see you – soon!

1I spent a wonderful afternoon at pemberton park with the adorable zayne and his parents, erin and michael. they has scheduled the session to commemorate zayne’s first birthday and we lucked out with a gorgeous fall day. he only recently started walking and was on the move from the first photograph I snapped… climbing and even running a little bit. he is such as cute little boy and clearly at his happiest when he is playing with his mom and dad. I had such a great time and look forward to our next session ~ thanks for a such a fun day!

001courtney and I have been friends for 10 years and what a wild ride it’s been.. I owned a restaurant in snow hill when she opened her salon down the street ~ I wandered down to her space a week before she opened to introduce myself and from the start, we  clicked. within minutes, we were talking as though we had known each other for years and I think I started sharing secrets with her that night. in the years since, our biggest moments and most difficult decisions have been shared within the 4 walls of her salon (‘now let’s have lunch!’) and I would be lost without her and her friendship. then this spring, during an editorial session that we were shooting, she received a text and after reading it.. she smile bigger and wider than I had seen her do in years ~ she even blushed a little. I knew who it was from but acted as though I didn’t.. it was from jeff. a few weeks before, my cousin caitlin had suggested that courtney meet a co-worker of her husband and things went well ~ very well. caitlin had already given me a brief update about the date and was pretty proud of her matchmaking skills.. ‘but let her tell you herself!’ caitlin implored. so I did. after the text, all I had to do was look at her and courtney couldn’t hold it in. for the next 10 minutes, she excitedly shared with me all about their first date, the communication since, and she was literally glowing. after the shoot, we went back to her salon to hang out and courtney looked me straight in the eye, with calm confidence, and said that she was going to marry this man… and she is. a few months ago she moved to virginia to be with jeff and his daughter brooke so I haven’t seen her much recently but she and jeff knew they wanted their engagement session on chincoteague ~ so they headed to the shore. this was the first time I had officially met jeff but I already loved him.. anyone who makes my girl that happy? I am already a loyal fan. and to see them together was everything that I knew it would be. to say I am over-the-moon happy for you doesn’t begin to cover it ~ over the past decade we have seen each other through some of the biggest moments of our lives.. professionally and personally.. the good and the bad. to see you so full of joy makes my heart so happy and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. I love you, boo!

1one of the very first things I learned about shayna was that she a former roommate and good friend of one of my favorite brides (and one of my favorite people), katie. so from the beginning, I knew that she was going to be wonderful to work with and after speaking with her on the phone a couple of times, I was looking so forward to her wedding and to meet her love, chris. the ceremony and reception were held at a simply stunning vineyard located outside of mount airy and the day was perfect. I arrived early to check out exactly were the ceremony would be and to meet shayna’s planner, karen farrow. everything was so beautifully done and as shayna arrived with her ladies in tow, everyone was excited and ready to get this celebration underway. shayna and chris were married under a lovely chuppah with their families firmly by their side. from the reading of the ketubah to the applause that erupted from those gathered as the glass was broken, it was beautiful.. start to finish. I was so happy to spend this day with both of you and wish you love, joy, and laughter in your life together.

after photographing this session, kathleen and ray officially became my most photographed couple ~ ever. it’s hard to believe that we met 7 years ago when they hired me to photograph their wedding.. and from the very first moment, I loved them. they are funny, they are kind, they are silly, they are amazing parents, they are more in love today than they were last year, and the year before that. they are ravens fans.. but I can overlook that ~ I love them that much. so instead of posting a bunch of links to their previous sessions, I pulled some of my favorite photos from all of our sessions..

and last month’s session.. this year, they picked me up from assateague on their pontoon boat. I must say, I felt pretty fancy :) we went to a beach only accessible by boat and had such an awesome morning together. now that alice is a year older, she is on the move, inquisitive, and adorable. coleston, as usual, was so much fun and ever the attentive big brother. to watch all of them together is a such a joy and I am reminded once again how fortunate I am that I get to do this for a living. the friendships that I have made, the children that I watch grow up in front of my lens… I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love you guys so much and am forever grateful to have you in my life.. until next year! xoxo

1682 weeks before their wedding, I received an email from jen… ‘so the forecast calls for rain. I know I shouldn’t be looking, but I did.’ this isn’t unusual.. I start looking at the weather for wedding days way before I should, too ~ but I try to have a game plan. I like to attempt to be prepared for the unexpected, although rarely does mother nature play along… good or bad. but on this day, the day that jen and rick got married, she needn’t have worried for it was a beautiful, picture perfect day. and even if it had rained.. even if it had snowed and hailed, it would have been okay. because the love that jen and rick share is pretty perfect all on it’s own. I knew when I met them for their engagement session that I would love them. anytime that nicknames are assigned by me within 15 minutes of a shoot, I know that we are a great match. so as I entered the historic tidewater inn, I felt as though I was coming to celebrate the day of dear friends.. and I was. as they met for their first look, I could tell that rick simply couldn’t wait to see his bride and as jen tapped him on the shoulder, it was bliss. simple, quiet, and true bliss. the ceremony was elegant and intimate and as they walked into their reception, their celebration was shared by all of their friends and family. and as I photographed them leaving their wedding under a shower of sparkles, I got one last hug before they left as man and wife. I have so enjoyed each and every second that I’ve spent working with you and getting to know you. and although you like in philly, I hope to see you again ~ sooner rather than later. I wish you so much love and happiness! xoxo

1I’ve known bonnie for over 10 years and was so excited when laura photographed her and derek’s wedding 2 years ago. theirs was a celebration full of love, laughter, and selfies… tons of them. they also had a theme and a hashtag, #goatsgetmarried… but that will be explained shortly. bonnie messaged me several months ago with the happy news that she and derek were expecting their first child and were interested in some newborn photos ~ yay! as I got to their house, their pup, grover, greeted me at the door. at first he wasn’t too sure what to make of me, but that’s what protective big brothers do. then I saw simone ~ sleepy, adorable, and absolutely beautiful. as we were getting ready to start working, bonnie said that there was one outfit that she wanted to include ~ a goat. because I had edited their wedding, I had seen the hashtag and finally had the opportunity to ask.. ‘what’s up with the goat thing?’. apparently, she and derek had started calling each other goat years ago and it had just stuck. so yes, we definitely had to include the goat outfit seeing as how the family had a new, little, and precious goat. it was so wonderful to see all of you and I had the nicest morning. I am looking so forward to our next session and the one after that as your lovely daughter grows up. thank you so much for a wonderful session! xoxo
