I had the pleasure of meeting miss logan a few weeks ago once she came home from the hospital. parents jennifer and james greeted me at the door as their dog jaegar trailed close behind, enthralled by my camera bag. they brought me into the living room to meet their daughter who was peacefully sleeping away and as we moved into her nursery to take photos, the soft light coming through the window was perfect. jaegar didn’t leave my side which, of course, I loved and I took the opportunity to have some time to photograph him by himself – it was as though I could hear him lamenting the fact that he had been there first :)  we moved into their room and I loved how the whole family just piled onto the bed, so happy just to be together. I had such a great afternoon with all of you and am looking so forward to our next session!

kelly is an aspiring model and when she and her mom sandy visited the studio about possibly doing some portfolio work, I was really excited to work with her. with the help of my friend and styling genius brent sollars gould we had a great time putting together looks for kelly who was so enthusiastic about the whole shoot and so much fun to work with. while on location, we dealt with lots of mud, bees and chilly temperatures but kelly wasn’t fazed one bit and handled it all with humor and professionalism. I had such a great time working with her and wish her all the world has to offer as she pursues her dreams.

This wedding was a bittersweet one for me.  Even though it was my last wedding of 2013 it was also the day my friend would marry the love of her life.  Jennifer + Ajene’s engagement session was one of my favorites!  They had each other laughing the whole time and not a lot changed on wedding day.  I met up with Jennifer, her mother and her best friend + MOH, Mindy at her house overlooking Johnson’s Pond.  The girls were laughing over coffee and homemade breakfast casserole when I entered the room.  Rusty, their beloved feline, oversaw the whole getting ready production and kept everyone on track. :)  Jennifer spent time in Bolivia during her time in the Peace Corps and received well wishes from her friends.  I headed over to meet up with Ajene and his family at the hotel.  I’m so glad many of Ajene’s family members were able to fly in from the Virgin Islands to celebrate this monumental day with them.  His daughter, Ysabel had a gorgeous headband that Miss Patti Cake replicated on the cake topper!  I drove over to the historic church in Downtown Salisbury to meet back up with Jennifer and her girls.  She was so anxious to see Ajene for their first look and family members peered into the courtyard from the surrounding windows and Jennifer approached her groom.  I will never get tired of a couple’s reaction to first seeing each other on their wedding day.  Never.  Just like during their esession, this couple had each other laughing and smiling.   As guests filled the pews, Jennifer + Ajene tucked away inside the church.  Afterwards, all of the guests gathered outside for a large group photo!  We all headed to the reception to get the party started!  They even had local oysters from their friend in Chincoteague during cocktail hour!  I smiled when I saw caramel corn balls from Fisher’s Popcorn as their favors- definitely a favorite of mine!  Everyone wished them farewell with a fun sparkler sendoff!  I’m so happy for you both and cannot wait to see what 2014 has in store for you!

Thank you to all of the wonderful vendors who helped in Jennifer + Ajene’s big day!

as some of you may or may not know, we first met our associate photographer laura when she was a GPA bride. shortly after we met her and husband derek, they adopted their dog cooper who they are madly in love with. so when we announced our annual santa paws event here at the studio last year, they quickly signed up. seeing as how they came from baltimore for a 25 minute session, they made a little side trip out of it but we loved that they came all that way for our little charity shoot. then this year, as a member of the team, laura made the suggestion that because so many of our clients are across the bridge, that maybe we should have a santa paws shoot in baltimore. I thought it was such a great idea and laura quickly got a location lined up with downtown dog resort. as soon as we announced santa paws for both our studio and in baltimore this year, we were happily booked up within hours – I love how popular this event has become because not only does it help rescue organizations, but I could work with dogs all day, every day and be very, very, very happy. as soon as I arrived at downtown dog, I met the manager jim and he simply could not have been more accommodating and wonderful to work with. we saw some old friends as well as meeting some new folks and of course there were the pups…. we had such an amazing time with all of you and are looking so forward to next year!

All babies are special but this little girl has already touched so many hearts and she’s only two months old.  Ella was welcomed into this world in early October.  She not only surprised mom + dad by being a girl (doctors thought she was a boy!) but she was also born with a congenital heart defect.  I am very close with this family and have had the awesome opportunity of watching their first child, Maya, grow up.  We saw each other before Ella was born when we photographed Maya’s 18 month session and couldn’t wait for her to be a big sister!  Ella was rushed to Johns Hopkins when she was 6 days old with mom + dad by her side.  She is such a strong fighter and has a beautiful mark to prove it.  She made me giggle with all of her different faces during our session.  The girls’ nanny + friend, Angel, came and hung out with us and we all had a blast.  As always, I had such a fun time with you all and am so glad I got to meet this little beauty!  Can’t wait till next time! :)

I was so happy to hear from Sarah when she emailed me saying that her sweetheart, Carl, proposed and they wanted to have engagement photos taken.  I haven’t seen Carl since his sister’s wedding a few years ago and was glad to hear that he had found the one!  I met up with Sarah + Carl at the gorgeous Cromwell Valley Park in the middle of November.  The rich, autumn colors blended together like a blanket over the surrounding hills and valley and we had a beautiful sun that morning.  While walking through the park I learned that Carl proposed on a family vacation on the beach and that they will be getting married in Sarah’s hometown in Connecticut!  I’m so happy for you both and wish you the best!  :)

Thank you for a fun morning! :)

What happens when you have a couple who are each other’s best friend, a gorgeous day in November saturated with the colors of fall combined with an impromptu dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller + Bohemian Rhapsody all surrounded by fun, loving family + friends??  AN AMAZING WEDDING!  …and maybe an occasional air guitar ;)  Shannon + Justin could not have asked for better weather for their wedding at the historic Ceresville Mansion in the hills of Frederick, Maryland.  When I first met them at a café near their home and learned that they were proud parents of a rescue Pit named Roxxy I knew that we would get along great!  Shannon had kept me in the loop about some of the unique things about her wedding and I couldn’t wait to see their big day unfold.  Her mother sewed the ring pillow from her lace wedding gown and Shannon made the antique teacup candle favors!  I was greeted by a room full of cheerful bridesmaids when I arrived at the hotel.  Shannon’s mother came sweeping in and was so full of joy as everyone was prepping to head over to the mansion.  Once we got there, Jillian and I met up with Justin and brought him down to the grove where he waited to see Shannon for the first time.  I can’t express how much I love when a couple partakes in a First Look.  That moment shared between the two of them on one of the most import days of their lives is just priceless to me.  Shannon + Justin exchanged their personal vows during their gorgeous ceremony and everyone was excited to start the party.  Shannon + her MOH, Jamie, rocked it out to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and that warmed up the dance floor.  If at any point during a wedding the groom gets thrown in the air and the bride takes over the mic- you know it’s a good time ;)  I was excited to see that Shannon + Justin had pies instead of cake and how everyone closed the night by signing + swaying to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Freebird.  Jillian + I are so happy for you both and are glad we could be with you on this wonderful day!

Thank you to all the vendors who helped make Shannon + Justin’s wedding a success:

allison and bryan were married on the beach a little over two years ago and it was one of our favorite 2011 fall weddings. not only is allison a fellow upstate girl, but she and bryan were so much fun to work with and their wedding was beautiful! as is the case with a lot of our couples, we follow them on facebook and love seeing how new chapters begin in their lives together. so when I saw that they were expecting a little girl, I was so happy for them and when allison contacted soon after, I couldn’t wait to see them. we had a gorgeous fall afternoon and spent it in downtown berlin, wandering the streets as the sun slowly set. I couldn’t be happier for them and am so excited to meet their daughter :)
