meet liz + jon! jon is actually the brother of our bride lauren who we have worked with several times and love. jon and liz are just as great as she is and when I met with them the first time in annapolis, I knew that working with them would be so much fun. if their e-session is any indicator of their july wedding, it’s going to be one of the best of the year. per their suggestion, we photographed the session at great frogs winery which is right down the street from where jon grew up. as we were walking the grounds, he shared memories of exploring the many trails as a kid before it was a vineyard. I don’t think we stopped laughing the entire shoot and I am looking so forward to working with this awesome couple again

thank you both for a wonderful afternoon and I’ll see you soon!

photographing any wedding is a honor and a celebration of love + commitment. it’s always so inspiring to get to know our couples as they begin that new chapter together. but there’s something about shooting a vow renewal, when the couple has already been married for years, that is pretty awesome! such is the case with cathy and rob – they were married 8 years ago but knew that someday they wanted to have the big wedding celebration. enter in a visit to the lodges at gettysburg for cathy’s birthday and a plan was hatched! I drove up the night before the wedding, walking the streets of historic downtown and driving through the battlefields… such a cool place that I had never visited before. the day of the wedding I met cathy at the main lodge as she got ready with her 2 sisters. she and rob had added so many personal touches to this day and it was stunning! friends and family began to arrive and the excitement and joy of the day filled the venue. although there were hysterical moments on the dance floor and touching family moments, I think my favorite part was their vows – the sentiments shared between them were of a couple who had been together for a long time and who had come to love each other more and more as each year had passed.

thank you for sharing such a special day with me! I hope we get the opportunity to work together again soon :)

I couldn’t wait to meet the Beall family after my correspondence with Robin.  She said it would be the first time that both of her sons would be together in quite some time and wanted to have family portraits taken.  We all decided that Assateage would be a great spot and the ponies even came out for a guest appearance! The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and the pastel colors casted a beautiful glow towards the end of our session as we all left to head home.  I had a great time with you all and am so glad you were able to spend the weekend together.  Thanks for letting me be apart of it!

it has been so awesome to be with aaren and jr as their journey into parenthood has progressed. from the announcement that their dogs did during our dog days event to their gender reveal party, I’ve been so happy to photograph each milestone. so when planning the ‘belly’ shoot – we opted for sunrise at the beach. the weather didn’t cooperate for the first session we had scheduled but we hit gold the second time… the morning was warm and the sun was glowing. you can see and feel how much aaren and jr are looking forward to the arrival of their daughter kennedy.. this is one blissed out pair :)

the next time I see you it will probably be with baby kennedy in your arms and I’m so excited to meet her!

We’ve mentioned before that here at Gillette Portrait Arts we not only are photographers but novice meteorologists.  Since Mother Nature has been giving us some showers the past few weeks, I’ve checked the weather constantly and always cross my fingers for any of our couples with an outdoor wedding.  So when I saw grey skies the morning of Laura + Ben’s beach wedding, my heart sank a little for them.  However, after I hung up the phone with Ben and heard the pure joy in his voice, I knew the weather was the last thing on everyones’ mind that day.  All worries were cast aside the minute I walked into their gorgeous beach house.  I was instantly greeted with smiles and everyone was just so happy that this day had finally arrived.  Laura + Ben had been dating for a long time and everyone was waiting for this moment.  They were surrounded by their close family and Laura’s dad not only walked her down the isle but conducted the ceremony!  Her nephew Parker was the ring bearer and after the ceremony everyone feasted on crabs + cake!  The rain held off just long enough- it started to sprinkle during portraits of the two of them but I don’t think these lovebirds even noticed. :)  The were so wrapped up in each other and their love shone throughout the whole day.  I am so happy for you both- thanks for inviting me along to share this special day with you!

they had me at combsberry inn as their venue.. one of my favorites here on the shore. when jennifer and patrick came into the studio for a consultation, I immediately loved everything about them  - from the easy and fun way they are together to their tattoos to the fact that they are in the restaurant business (patrick is chef/owner of both the high spot and stoked in cambridge) I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their wedding day and happily they felt the same way. for their esession we choose pemberton park which is a popular place to shoot in these parts but for them it was a special and intentional choice… this is where they met :) so we wandered back into the park – the bugs were brutal, especially on patrick, but they were troopers – and then we finished up by the fences where I got to meet obi, their puppy… such a cutie! I simply can’t wait for this wedding and to work with this amazing couple again

I had such an awesome afternoon with you both (and obi!) see you soon!!

it’s a little known fact that wedding photographers are also meteorologists… but trust me, we obsess and analyze about the weather on wedding day more than jim cantore. with this wedding specifically, we were nervous. in meeting with ashlyn, we knew that her and bruce’s wedding was to be held on the family farm – a place very special to them. we also knew that preparations around the farm had been taking place on the ceremony and reception portions of the land during the previous year just for this wedding. so when the forecast basically called for a 100% wash out, our hearts ached for them. but during the time we’ve gotten to know them, we knew that rain or shine, ashlyn and bruce were most looking forward to what this day is really all about – the two of them beginning their lives as man and wife. well a funny thing happened on the way to the farm… it didn’t rain… the sun even peeked out and a collective sigh of relief was exhaled by all of us. ashlyn and bruce were able to say ‘i do’ underneath an arbor made with love by her father in a beautiful oak orchard on the property. from being there as they got ready (with pups chase and hunter of course!) to their end-of-evening getaway in an awesome vintage chevy pickup, the day was a perfect celebration of love and joy from beginning to end.

thank you for such an amazing day! we will remember the time we spent with you, your friends and families with so much happiness. we wish you so much love, laughter and dog kisses in your life together :)

A few weeks ago I posted Stacie’s maternity session and was so excited to meet little Alexis!  Well now I can proudly say that this sweet little girl is here and was welcomed into our family with loving and open arms.  Alexis was born on May 3, 2013 weighing 6.9 pounds and 20 inches long!  She has a full head of hair and the cutest little nose!  I am so happy for my cousins and loved spending the afternoon with them + Lexi.

Love you guys! See you soon! xoxo

I had the pleasure of working with older brother gavin several years ago before dylan was even born. since that time, he’s obviously grown a bit but it still the super nice and kind kid that I remember. gavin is a natural in front of the camera… it’s like he knew exactly when I was going to shoot. dylan, on the other hand was far more interested in the ducks, the playground and the goats across the river to really care about me.. he’s two lol. but together these boys are so sweet to each other and are obvious best friends. I was like a kid again as I shimmied through tunnels and slid down slides in pursuit of an image. dylan kept taking my hand and having my climb up through openings of the jungle gym definitely not designed for my 6 feet, but it was so much fun!  sometimes the best thing you can do for an afternoon is just forget about everything else and just play :)

I am so excited for another opportunity to photograph these awesome kids… such a great time!
