it’s always important to me that my couples play a huge roll in choosing the locations for e-sessions. after all, this shoot is all about them and who they are as a couple. so when rosemarie suggested old town ellicott city as their location I was so excited. I hadn’t been there in years and it was even cooler than I remembered it. rosemarie was referred to us by former bride (and future mama!) jennifer and we had corresponded quite a bit but this was the first time meeting in person and I had such a great time walking the streets with her and jimmy, getting to know them better. I can tell you this – when they are together they smile and they laugh.. a lot! jimmy had me cracking up the whole time. I can’t wait to work with them next year on their wedding day

thank you both for such a great afternoon – I had a blast! I hope you have a wonderful holiday :)

I met up with tammy and peter on a gorgeous november morning in annapolis. I absolutely never get tired of shooting in the state’s capital – I always find something new. so I am extra happy that not only was their esession here, but that their wedding will be in annapolis in december. tammy and peter’s will actually be my last of 2011 and it’s been an amazing year! their intimate daytime celebration will be the perfect way to wrap this big beautiful year up with. and that cutie you’ll notice a few photos down? that is their dog maddie, who tammy’s father was nice enough to bring down to the city dock so that she could be included in some photos. I always love it when my couples include their pup :)

tammy and peter thanks for the great session and the chai latte! :) see you soon!

If you’ve been following me on the blog, you know that I love to scuba dive- especially in tropical places.  So when it came time to name the family dog 7 years ago I threw out the name “Reef” as in coral reef and it stuck.  :) Reef is our seven year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who loves to swim and is a huge part of our family.  My dad takes him hunting with him every year and he joins my sisters in charity walks and events throughout the community.   He’s even ventured down to the studio a few times and has been a poor victim of my props and photo ideas. :)  He’s always been a good sport though.  Reef will be joining us for our first annual SANTA PAWS event this Saturday.  Be sure to bring your pups over-  Reef loves making new friends!

how I love fall – the colors and the relaxed energy of the season has always made it one of my favorites. and it was on the most perfect of fall days that I met up with nicole and george for their e-session. there was a slight chill to the air, but only enough to make cuddling slightly mandatory :) these two are SO cute together and I loved getting to know them better during the shoot. they came with some props and awesome clothing choices which I always love – and yes… a ravens jersey. their wedding is going to be so great and I am so excited to work with this special couple again!

thank you so much for such a great afternoon – I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

if this girl looks familiar, it’s very possible that she took photos at your wedding – it’s our very own liv! ever since I’ve known her, she has been engaged to drew and it’s always been kind of understood that I would shooting her wedding. there was only one thing missing… a wedding date. I would casually mention it here and there only to get a grin from liv. see drew is in the military and with unknown deployments and all that entails, setting a date has been a bit tricky. but about a month ago I was told with much joy that a date has been set! obviously I have spent a lot of time with liv, both in and out of work but I hadn’t really gotten to know drew until this session. he is so funny and is so over the moon for liv that I loved him right away. I pushed them a bit more than I do with other couples because well… I could :) but they were game to anything I suggested – even if it meant spinning around and around in a beautiful, if not a little dangerous field of weeds. after about the 5th spin, down they went, disappearing below the brush - once I realized that they were okay, I couldn’t stop giggling. drew even nicknamed it “torture field”. to say I had fun is an understatement and I’m so happy to have you a part of GPA and can’t wait for the big day!

can’t wait to do it all over again on wedding day – maybe we’ll even find another field to play with :) xoxo

as Thanksgiving is in the next few days, I am reflecting on all of the things I am grateful for. The three things I am most thankful for are my family, my soon to be husband and my job.

my family is absolutely amazing. They have never faltered in their support of me and my many endeavours. Ever since I can remember, they have told me that I could do anything I wanted. They stood behind me when I told them I wanted to be a pastry chef, a fashion designer and finally a photographer. Unfortunately I am an only child, but I have found siblings with my cousins and I am so lucky to have been blessed with each of them.

My fiance Drew is my rock in every way. We have been best friends since the 7th grade and have been inseperable ever since. I can be having the worst day ever but with one look from him all of my troubles disappear. He is in the Army and so there is always an uncertainty with his deployment. If that has taught me anything, it’s to remember to relax and enjoy every day because you never know what tomorrow will bring, or take, and for that life lesson I am grateful.

Last but not least, I am grateful for my job. No I am not saying this to get a gold star but because I am honestly really happy where I am. There are many reasons why I feel so fortunate to be working at GPA; the amazing clients, the creative atmosphere and the phenomenal women I work with. That last part is the most important to me because without them the job wouldn’t be the same. These lovely ladies have become more than co-workers and are insanely creative and intelligent. They make going to work a blast and they make difficult situations both easier and somehow humorous. Not many people can say that their co-worker extensively documented the removal  of their car from a sand dune. And this past week we were blessed with an addition to the GPA family with the arrival of Izabella Claire. we can’t wait for the first studio visit from baby Bella and mama Mel!

From the first moment I met Katie and Tim, I could feel the love and excitement emanating from their every move. The couple enjoyed a very intimate ceremony and reception surrounded by sixty of their closest family and friends. The small group and the private house that they chose for the venue made it clear to all who attended that they were very special to the happy couple. The day was enriched by many special touches that did not go unnoticed by those who knew Katie and Tim well (Katie’s veil and the ribbon on the bouquet were from her mother’s wedding dress) I had a wonderful time capturing all the little moments that made their wedding so unique.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day, and I wish you all the love and happiness in the world!
