the first time I met christine and bill I felt like I was meeting up with old friends – they just have that kind of energy about them. we literally took about a 30 minute break and sat on some steps just to chat. so I knew come wedding day that they would be amazing! not only are they crazy in love, but they share a love of laughter that overflows to those around them. the wedding was at a beautiful church in catonsville and the wedding was at turf valley. I had gone up a couple weeks beforehand with christine to scope out both areas and as we were strolling the golf course we imagined how we’d love the foliage to look once wedding day came and let’s just say someone heard us because it was stunning. although the afternoon was a bit chilly, you’d never know it by looking at these two!

taylor is a part of the large crew of snow hill high seniors that I’ve had the joy of working with this year – I can honestly say that I’ve had such a great time with all of these students. they were all so fun, energetic and nice! I know when I was their age I was… you could say… a bit moody. but they’ve all been great! taylor is actually the granddaughter of my next door neighbor who I’ve known all of my life. while we were shooting I asked taylor “did you know that your grandmother and my mom graduated high school together?” and she with eyes widened said “really?” not because it’s that amazing but probably because she did the math and realized just how ancient I am, at least to a teenager :) but she brought her dog – who was adorable and taylor was a real trooper dealing with the sudden chill and wind. while we were doing a few shots with her soccer ball it suddenly was taken by the wind and went into the bay, slowly taken out of our reach by the tide – it was far too cold to go fetch it. but we were all laughing because it was like a scene from castaway - so we all stood at the shore and screamed “wilson!!”

now usually when I have a session with a kid – there is a warming up period. if they haven’t met me before, I’m sure a 6 foot tall gal with a big camera can be a little intimidating – and they usually end up behind their mom, peeking around their legs at the crazy camera lady. trust me – I get it! I hate my photo being taken and on more than one occasion when someone has tried to photograph the photographer at a wedding, I’ve ended up hiding behind kristie….or the DJ……or the ice sculpture – you get the point. so I’m all about just hanging out and talking little mermaid, tractors – whatever my little pal wants to chat about before I hold up my camera to shoot. well with gavin, the shy-time lasted all of about 0.0002 seconds – he was ready from the word go and I was amazed! this kid is a pro and so much fun to be around – his smile is infectious and he’s the best bundle of amazing energy!

andrea & patrick are friends of one of my favorite couples megan & ryan and they are getting married next year at one of my favorite spots the chesapeake bay beach club! when they said that they wanted to do their e–session in ocean city I was so on board. I really haven’t shot at the beach as much as I have in years past. andrea & patrick are so cute together and really easy to work with – we met under the pier and then traveled to the boardwalk – merry-go-round and the whole deal :)

ashley & bobby were married on an absolutely gorgeous october day. when we did their e-session, I learned so many great things about this couple – where they met, how their relationship evolved and the obvious love they share. on wedding day I went to meet up with ashleyfirst and was floored when I saw her – the dress, the shoes, the veil, and especially ashley - everything was so beautiful! and her girls looked pretty amazing too :) then it was off to bobby and his boys who could have been straight out of GQ. the ceremony was emotional and touching and the reception was all about the bling – loved it!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with this adorable family at their home for an afternoon session. mom dana is the sister of my bride laura and at laura & matt’s wedding, dana was so close to her due date she brought baby clothes with her! fortunately baby sienna held off and made her debut several days later. I do newborn/family sessions the way I do all of my photography. I am an observational, photo-journalistic whatever-you-want-to-name-it photographer.  while I do have a studio, it’s mainly for client consultations and the random senior formal or realtor head shot. I prefer to go to my clients, especially when a newborn is involved. I want to shoot in their nurseries, with family pets, where they’re in familiar surroundings and comfortable. plus I find that most new sleep-deprived parents are thrilled not to have to pack up and come to me. I’m not saying that newborn studio photography isn’t wonderful because it is – it’s just not what I do.   so when I got to the house dana and dad chris were both a little tired, but also glowing in the joy that is new parenthood – sienna couldn’t have been cuter, occasionally looking at me like “and you are??” I’m your first official photographer my dear – and so happy to be!

I’ve loved katheen & ray since the first time I met them which was during their e-session – over a year ago! not only were they the best to work with & supplying me with some of my favorite images ever, but it was discovered that ray and I would begin a friendly rivalry of sorts. see while kathleen was getting dressed in the bathhouse at assateague – ray discovered that I was a steelers fan – and him? ravens of course. over the past year there have been facebook posts – sent with love of course – that narrowed down to a bet for wedding day. the wager was too complicated to describe here – let’s just say that I didn’t have to wear a ravens jersey to the wedding :) what I did have the pleasure of doing was witnessing & documenting these two amazing people tie the knot. I started with kathleen at her house while liv met up with the guys – then we all met up at the church for a beautiful ceremony and then it was off to chartwell country club for their stunning reception. their friends and families were amazing and we had the best time

chris’ proposal to becky was one of the coolest I have ever heard – this couple loves disney and were there on vacation (also their honeymoon destination!) anyway.. they were having dinner at the coral reef restaurant which has a huge aquarium when suddenly a scuba diver held up a sign asking “will you marry me?” – I mean really – how fabulous is that? the wedding was filled with personal touches from fabric bouquets made by becky’s mom to the candy /dessert buffet with all of their favorite childhood sweets. the reception at the hobbit was beautiful & intimate. and laughter - becky, chris and all of their friends couldn’t stop laughing the entire day and what’s more joyful than that?
