kellie & steve are one of those couples who when they’re together, it’s like there is no one else in the world. when I worked with them during their e-session, they fell into such a comfortable world made for two and I love shooting couples like that – their wedding day was no different. I met up with kellie and her maid of honor at the salon where finishing touches were happening and then it was off to lighthouse sound which I adore. the day was beautiful and as kellie got her dress on, steve arrived with his brother and kellie’s son austin. kellie had said that austin may not be too excited to see me coming with my camera in tow – but he was all smiles and I entered the guy’s room. obviously he was as excited as kellie and steve were that the big day was finally here!

I was so excited to meet kate & mike! we had tried and failed on a couple different occasions to get together but finally made it work on a sunny sunday afternoon in annapolis. in my communication with kate I knew I would love working with her – she’s got the best laugh! – always a great sign – and waaayyyy  too humble. in one of her emails she had said that she wasn’t photogenic. well as they came walking up to meet me at the annapolis harbor, all I could say was “puh-lease!” they’re a gorgeous couple and she was rocking the coolest dress I think I’ve ever seen for an e-session. my favorite thing about mike and kate is the way they are together – very playful and really funny – for most of the session it was like I wasn’t even there.

as I watched jessica’s facebook posts leading up to their wedding day, I was getting as excited as she was! both she and danny had different countdowns on different days and I was so happy I was going to be able to join them. I’ve been traveling for most of my weddings this summer and while I love shooting new places, it was nice to stay close to home – even in the madness of bike week! I met jessica at her home and it was a whirlwind of activity. her hair had just been done (beautiful!) and bridesmaids & family members were rushing room to room. jessica was calm as can be – taking her time and taking it all in. when it got time to put the dress on I thought that she was as ready as any bride I’ve ever worked with to marry her love

laura and matt came from california to get married on the beaches of ocean city. the day was beautiful and the excitement evident as I got to the clarion where they were both getting ready. when I had worked with them on their e-session in annapolis, I fell in love with them. they were willing to follow any suggestion I made and we ended up with one of my favorite sessions. when I met up with laura and saw the dress and the shoes (always one of my favorite parts!) I knew this was going to be a wedding to remember. they both got ready with just their families with them which I thought was intimate and perfect.

it seriously couldn’t have been a more perfect day. the sun was bright and the breeze was cool – a beautiful day for a wedding at the sunset room. since I shot their e-session I had been looking forward to the wedding – erin and mac are such a great couple. when they’re together they are always laughing and happy and when you add their son wyatt, their joy multiplies. I got to the sunset room before the wedding began and was amazed by all of the details and decorations that they had done themselves – using crab shells for place cards and toothpicks meticulously adorned with baby shells, every detail was personal to them and beautiful.

I met up with siara at her house to start her session. when we had sat down for the consultation I knew that the 2 major elements she wanted to include in her session were her love for all things soccer and her cat, sassy. we began with siara by herself and then rounded up sassy who wasn’t quite sure what to make of all of it :) I adore including pets in sessions – people just seem to light up when they’re around. after sassy finished with her close ups we headed to a local park to get some soccer photos. I loved how the sun was setting and we used the field lighting – it made it as bright as midday, only a bit more interesting.

I met up with jenny & josh at the national aquarium in baltimore and to say I was excited is an understatement. I love shooting in unique places, especially when they’re special to my couple. jenny loves the aquarium and josh takes her there each year for her birthday. I hadn’t been for years and was amazed by all of the exhibits and marine life – if you’ve never been GO! jenny & josh were so much fun to work with as we strolled through the aquarium and then spent some time outside. they are getting married in october at the peabody and I LOVE the peabody and am looking so forward to working with these two again!

the first time I spoke with amy jo’s mother terry, I knew this was going to be a fun shoot. amy jo has a lot of interests and hobbies – but her passions are her horse and her dragster, and could we shoot with them both? ABSOLUTELY! I met up with amy jo, terry, dad and little brother at riverhouse in snow hill where both the horse & dragster had been brought along for the session. this horse is gorgeous! and HUGE! which is why it amused me to find out his nickname was junior. he was great, taking direction from amy jo like a pro – I swear he was posing! and then…….. well amy jo wanted some shots on his back, so she hopped up bare back and at first junior seemed fine and then, in a split second he began to gallop and then he reared up – waaayyyy up – I was terrified, but amy jo just slid gracefully off, it didn’t phase her one bit - after junior calmed down, we tried again and were successful (stay tuned for part 2 to see a shot or two of this) next up it was time for the dragster and I had a blast shooting with amy jo all decked out in her racing gear.

hope is my close friend and was my right hand girl/manager/sanity keeper at the palette. taylor is her daughter and she worked at the palette for years. this fall – taylor has left the nest to attend hood college and I wanted to get some shots of the two of them before she left. this shoot was literally only about 12 hours before taylor left snow hill. now hope likes her photo about as much as I do (meaning we both HATE it!) but that seemed to fall away when cuddled up to her youngest
