gillette portrait arts has been voted one of the top wedding photographers for 2010 by THE KNOT! needless to say we are very excited about this – but the really cool thing about this honor is that the winners were decided by YOU – our clients – we are so grateful and blessed to work with the people we do – it’s why we love what we do and spend everyday working to make our services and products the best they can be! we can’t wait to put all of our ideas and new products into action during the upcoming year. we’re starting out 2010 with wedding shows galore – salisbury, stevensville, annapolis, dewey beach, baltimore – we’re hitting them all and are excited to see old pals and meet new friends. We are happy to announce our HUGE holiday contest. Gillette Portrait Arts wants to give the gift of photography to one deserving couple. Starting December 1st, we will be accepting admissions by email for FREE wedding photography. We want to hear your story – how did you meet? How did he propose? – keep a lookout on the blog tomorrow for all of the details!

again, thank you for all of your support (and votes!) we look forward to seeing you soon!

I was leaving snow hill to go meet deborah and aram at deborah’s parents for this shoot when I discovered the bridge over the pocomoke river had been closed due to flooding. now this bridge is the main way out of town, specifically when traveling toward cambridge. I quickly re-routed and headed on up – praying that the rain would let up by the time I got there. I arrived at this beautiful house on the water, where it wasn’t raining – but the events of the morning had left me a bit frazzled. but as soon as I met deborah and aram I was instantly energized and excited for this shoot. I immediately noticed that they had great energy and a playful sense of humor and once deborah showed me the clothes they had brought, I added fabulous style to the list. Initially we stayed on the house’s property which was breathtaking before heading uot to some spots I had noticed on the ride up as well as a special spot they had in mind.

this windmill is right around the corner from the house – crazy! In addition to just being a cool spot to shoot, it also symbolized aram’s heritage – so it was double cool :)

I had these two mucking through muddy fields, jumping over flooded ditches and literally running from location to location so we wouldn’t lose the light and they were right there with me, laughing the whole time and trusting me that there was a point to it all – my kind of clients! I had such a great time with you both and hope to see you again soon!

I met tara at the palette where she’s one of our much appreciated regulars! she’s also a friend of erika (see erika’s blogpost with her family a few posts back) so tara gave me a call to book some family photos and we got it together just in time!  the remnants of hurricane ida were working their way up the coast and eventually pummeld us with rain and wind for days, resulting in flooding in our little town! so, I met the three of them at the atlantic hotel in berlin and from there we wandered the streets. I guess most photographers are just observers by nature, but I love watching families and loved ones interact. this family has so much fun together and clearly love each other tons! bennett and libby really started to have fun and I just kept clicking away!

you guys were great and made my job so easy – I had a blast – thanks!!

I met angie at the wedding show at the salisbury commons early this year and immediately I knew I wanted to work with her – she was so excited about her upcoming wedding and had some very cool ideas.  A while later, when we met at the studio – she shared her and ben’s story, which I think I’ll wait until their wedding photos to tell you all about – but it’s VERY romantic!  Then I got to meet ben when the two of them came into the palette and just loved them as a couple – they are getting married in january at the tidewater inn and it will be a winter wonderland of a day – I’m so excited!

we came out of the cold and into the palette so they could enjoy a chardonnay and I could get a shot of them doing one of their favorote things – going out for good food and good wine!

angie & ben – thank you so much for spending the afternoon with me. I had a great time during the shoot and enjoyed our chat after we were done. I’m looking so forward to your wedding – I know it’s going to be a truly special day!

I photographed erika & josh’s wedding a few years back and had a blast! they are such fun people and their wedding was beautiful! since then, I did a shoot with them and their dogs and have the opportunity to see them both quite often at work. when they found out they were expecting hayden, we wanted to do a maternity session – but schedules and weather got it the way – so this was the first time I met her – and she is adorable!

thanks guys! I had a great time with you and hayden – she was wonderful to work with – I look forward to working with your beautiful family again!
